  • Museum makeover gains momentum thanks to latest millions

    The Bowes Museum is delighted to announce that a bid for just over £2 million to One NorthEast through the County Durham Economic Partnership has been successful. This success is joined by £200,000 awarded from the European Regional Development Fund and follows on from the Museum’s recent announcement of £3.3 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

  • Tourism Working Together in Northumberland

    Northumberland Tourism’s Summer Conference, held at Linden Hall Hotel last week, successfully brought together more than two hundred delegates from across the county. Representing small businesses and agencies whose lifeblood is tourism, the conference demonstrated the success of its theme, and the willingness of people from the Tyne to the Tweed, to “All work together.”

  • Newcastle Theatre Royal hat-trick

  • New walk from the Breamish Valley

    At 615 metres above sea level Cushat Law is the fifth highest of the Cheviot Hills and is known affectionately as `The Monarch of Kidland`. It dominates the Upper Breamish Valley and commands fine views from its grassed covered summit. Less than 2 miles to the west, stands the 610 metre high Bloodybush Edge, the sixth highest of the Cheviot Hills.

  • Are You Tapping Into Art?

    Increasingly people are looking for experiences and activities during their leisure time or when taking a holiday, and Northumberland Tourism want to ensure that the county’s businesses benefit from these markets. To achieve this, as part of The Made in Northumberland project, earlier today they invited accommodation providers and tourist attractions from across the county, to a workshop at Matfen Hall to meet some of the county’s leading artists, crafts people and photographers. The aim of this workshop was about partnership working, bringing together artisans, attractions and accommodation providers and to identify opportunities to work together to offer a range of creative activities and breaks.
